ConsTest is an open own choice brass band competition taking place at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, returning once more on Saturday 11th April, 2026. Boasting a modern take on brass banding, bands will perform in the brilliant Bradshaw Hall, competing for numerous prizes, including Denis Wick and Alliance products, and the chance to work with virtuosos. ConsTest 2025 follows on from three years of successful events and invites a quality pairing of adjudicators in Paul Holland & Stephanie Binns, to judge the competition. Looking towards the future, the event continues to work with an appropriate registration system facing the player crisis head on and a desire to provide a day of endless musical indulgence for all involved - just one example of the modernistic takes on banding that ConsTest has. Another new addition for this year is our dynamic entry pricing. We understand that funding for grassroots bands is limited, and so we have crunched the numbers, and adapted our entry fee in regulation with a percentage of the prize money (as well as a big increase to our overall prize and section winners!) After a great day of competing, up-and-coming midlands outfit Karate Bandana will provide indie covers and originals as the support act for our headliners in the Eastside Jazzclub - who will be announced in the new year. Be sure to follow our social media accounts to stay informed… with plenty more surprises along the way to contest day!
